Description

The timbers kiln dried system is to dry fresh or fresh sawn timbers in a chamber by conveying heat to the timbers and removing the evaporated moisture. The drying process is to extract moisture in the form of water vapour. To do this, heat must be supplied to the wood to provide the laten heat of vaporization and circulation fans also require for removing the evaporated moisture. The main reason of timber drying is to reduce its shrinkage or swelling when in service. If wood is dried to a moisture content (equilibrium moisture content) that is in equilibrium with the environment in which it will be used then shrinkage or swelling of the wood will be minimized.
